Don't know what to listen to? Try these! (...it's 90% midwestern emo, don't look at me like that...)

Now, this article was mostly an excuse to force my music taste onto you all, and what I'm currently interested in... but we're just going to gloss over that. Here are my December music recommendations for you all! Hopefully you find something you enjoy!

Albums

yourhouseistheonlyplacethatifeelathome - Robo Pumpkin

This album first came onto my radar around March, and ohmy... If you like midwestern emo, whether it be The Front Bottoms, Marietta, Modern Baseball, This Is Pointless, or Camping In Alaska... then you'll like this. Robo Pumpkin manage to capture everything that's great about midwestern emo... from the twinkly guitars, to the whiny but real vocals that we all know, and love. My favorite song's from this LP are Until Then, and Tour Guide From The Underworld. But if you have the time, then definitely check out the entire album! "So I'll catch up on your poems, scream until my ears bleed, why aren't they all about me." - Robo Pumpkin

Nearer My God - Foxing

Nearer My God is up on my list for album reviews, once I finish editing the reviews for Science Fiction by Brand New, and Cigarette Rushes and Bareknuckle Fistfights by All Hollow; whenever that is. Foxing, much like Brand New, changes their sound regularly, and slips in and out of genres like they're going to a party but don't know what to wear. Unlike Brand New, Connor Murphy is not accused of unconsensually touching anybody..... NEARER MY GOD, is a great album, and while it's not my favorite from Foxing, it's underrated and deserves a listen. They take a more alternative rock, pop, directed approach in this album but it still retains very much what makes Foxing unique. My favorites are Nearer My God, Won't Drown, and Bastardizer. "Bravery won't drown, so you keep the water running." - Foxing

Charmer - Tigers Jaw

Tigers Jaw are more known for their infamous album with the pizza cover, but Charmer deserves some recognition too. By the time of Charmer, Tigers Jaw really matured, and refined what they first put out in their self titled album. Here, they sound more depressed, and the song's are far more heavy. My favorites are What Would You Do, and I Envy Your Apathy. "Everyone waits by the corner of my bed, until I'm out of my body to talk" - Tiger Jaws

 Singles

Dark Green Water - Great Grandpa

Have you ever seen those videos of people making fun of how Tom Delonge from Blink 182 sing's? Of course you have... Yeah, Al Menne from Great Grandpa sing's like that... and it's amazing. I'm not sure if she's from the south or not, that might explain the singing, but it's not important. What is important is that you give this song a try. The song structure, the lyrics, the everything. The vocals might be an acquired taste, but that's one of the many charms of Great Grandpa, and midwestern emo.

A.M - Heccra

Heccra is an 5th wave emo / experimental rock band, and with their music... well you either love it, or you hate it. I'm not really sure what to compare Heccra to, they put on killer show's, and killer music. Listen to it!
